Taiwan: Taipei and around in 4 days

By Cubie - March 09, 2025

I was on leave between Christmas and New Year and didn't want to stay home. Holidaying in Australia is fairly costly and many times the expenses incurred is comparable to overseas travel, if not more. Simply said, this trip happened because I was being willful.

My flight out of Melbourne was on Christmas Eve night and I landed in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at past 1 PM on Christmas Day. I returned back to Melbourne on the 30/12 morning and logged back in to work. This gave me about 4 days in Taipei.

Online Arrival Card
You can choose to complete before arriving in Taiwan or scan the QR code and complete while in queue or fill up the paper arrival card.

Taiwan the Lucky Land draw
If you are a foreign independent (not part of a tour group) traveller who holds a foreign passport, stays in Taiwan between the duration of 3-90 days and not applying for any group related travel incentive, you can register to get a lucky draw chance. This campaign is scheduled to run till 30 June 2025.

Getting around
I ordered an EasyCard with TWD 400 deposit and sim card package off Klook - not sponsored. By the time I withdrew cash from ATM in the airport, picked up the EasyCard and sim card, the long queue for lucky draw had dispersed. Mode of transport used were trains, metros, buses and walk.
