Luckily our flight from Luxor to Cairo was on time. We got an Uber and arrived at GEM before noon. We packed some food with us from Luxor and was told that food is not permitted after security check so we finished off the food outside of the building. Arriving from the airport means we had our luggage with us and GEM offers free bag/luggage storage which was great.
Entry to GEM is timed so we didn't want to buy the ticket too early in advance. So we got them online when we were at GEM. Entrance fee: EGP 1450
We were lucky that GEM was opened to public before we travelled to Egypt. GEM is located about 2 km from Giza Pyramid Complex, which was why we initially planned to visit GEM after the Giza Pyramid Complex.
The museum was indeed grand and holds very impressive exhibits. We thought we would start from the Hall 1 which houses the Prehistoric Egypt. We abandoned the plan soon and headed straight to the Tutankhamun Halls which was a good idea because we spent hours there. It was almost closing time when we finished visiting the Tutankhamun Halls.
Side note: Cinnabon hot cross buns are quite tasty
