Uluru: Pioneer Outback Hotel & Lodge

By Cubie - July 02, 2014

It was an easy option as to why we picked this hotel, cost played biggest part of it. We traveled during peak season, right smack during Easter holidays, so anything higher start than this would cost us an arm and a leg.

One double bed + one single bed

The room was alright, but I don't have a very good impression of the front desk staffs of the hotels. All the ones I spoke to except the one who handled my checked in process looked grumpy and not very helpful. The staff who manned the counter when we checked out was worse, he inside another room and only came out when we returned the key, wearing the face that said "Stop-disturbing-me-I-want-to-go-back-to-play-candy-crush" the whole time. Ouch.

There are three eating area in the hotel itself, and we tried two of them. The last one looked way too posh for our style. LOL.

We had dinner on our first night in the hotel itself, at Pioneer BBQ and Bar.

It was a fun dinner of grilling your own food. We ordered chicken and fish, prawns skewers and the meal comes with free flow salad and soup bar. There was a board giving you the approximate time to grill or cook the meat.

Don't worry - nothing was burnt

It was awesome dinner, washed down with lemon, lime bitters bought from the attached bar.

We settled lunch at the other eatery - Pioneer Kitchen twice. First time before we went to Kata Tjuta and second time prior departing to the airport.

Poor food picture but this was my tandoori chicken burger
Burger was the first meal, and shared 2 pizzas with Little P.

Side note: I learned a new Malay delicacy called blotok.
